Many people use step by step wedding plans when they start to plan their wedding day. The plan makes it easy to ensure you don't forget the important tasks that you need to do, but they don't include the extra touches you may want to add.
Unless you are hiring a wedding planner to do the job for you I would highly recommend buying one of the cheap wedding plans available. They provide plenty of information on how to plan for a wedding plus may extra tips for saving money, but I would not recommend following it to the letter.
The cheap wedding plans that are available can give very good step by step wedding plans but they are not designed especially for you and so may need to be adjusted to accommodate your personal ideas. For example you may want elaborate flower arrangements which need to be booked further in advance to allow for extra planning by the florist. Every couple have their own ideas for their wedding day so make sure you have the day you want and not just a day set out by a book.
You may also have longer to plan than the average wedding, or a shorter amount of time. If you are planning a special date for your wedding then you may find you don't have as much time as the step by step wedding plan states to plan your wedding. Or on the other side you may have to wait 3 years for the venue you want and find you have 3 years to plan a wedding!
Whatever your personal circumstances are the wedding plan will not match up exactly so set your own wedding planning timeline using the wedding plan as a guide. Using the plan as a guide will ensure you don't forget the essential items without feeling you are set to what it says in the book.
The most important thing is to stick to your timeline when you have completed it otherwise you may find yourself forgetting to go back to items you left for later. Forgetting one of the important factors could ruin your big day so write out your plan and stick to it.
